Haw haw. I know, not actually that exciting, but as the punning title suggests these are my first experiments with the sterling silver wire I got for my birthday. Fossil thingy on the left is wrapped in 0.6mm (22ga, I think); pretty, clever hand blown bead on the right, from Shakespeare Glass in Taunton, England, is wrapped in 0.8mm (20ga, if I've got my numbers right.). The bead has a green core with clear glass with very thin horizontal blue stripes around the outside, the upshot of which is to make the bead look green with blue edges, and for once that has almost come out in the picture. Huzzah!

I discovered that:
1) Half hard sterling is WAYYY springy. And a bit tougher than the silver plated wire I'm used to. This stuff will make great jump rings, but it's a bit stiff for wire wrapping. That said, I reckon that fossil's the neatest bit of wrapping I've ever done - perhaps because I had to fight the wire so hard to get it to stay put!
2) I really, really, REALLY need to file the edges of my pliers (see the dents in the spiral dangle on the clever blue/green bead).

Oh I totally agree, I love the wrapped fossil! It's ver nicely done. Stirling silver? You lucky girl, you. But if it's stronger, would that make it harder to warp while your're working with it?. I found, working with silver plated wire, it woould bend too far, and then not go back to the shape I wanted.
The swirl on the Glass bead looks like it'd wiggle with movement. Fun! Swaying/wiggling things on jewellery I

Half-hard Sterling is a royal pain in the rear to work with. :faint: These look simply stunning, though! I love the fossil in particular!

I love jewellery with movement in it too, that's why I love danglies :D Thankyou! The HH sterling is harder to warp, yes, but that makes it harder to get into the shape you want it too, and the springiness makes it a bugger to KEEP in the shape you want it!

As I've discovered! I think it's gonna make great jump rings though. Thankyou!

The one on the left reminds me of a turtle and the one on the right looks like fancifully wrapped candy. :hungry:

Silver is my favorite metallic color, so me likes this plenty, especially with the dark colored fossil-bit.

'S not my first wire wrap, but it's the first with the new wire, so it takes a bit of getting used to. Thanks!
